Entry Deadlines

  • Market Beef Entry Deadline - Saturday, April 11th midnight
  • Market Hog Entry Deadline - Thursday, May 14th midnight
  • Market Sheep / Goat Entry Deadline - Friday, June 5th midnight
  • Market Rabbit / Market Poultry Deadline - July 1st with Bill of Sale/Receipt

Fair Check-In & Vet Check Information

Please review the following check-in procedures carefully. All animals must complete the veterinary check process before they can be stalled. Vet check slips will be required to enter pens and barns.

Monday, August 24


Beef & Swine Check-In

Time: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Beef Location: Beef Barn
Swine Location: Jacklin Building


Weigh-In Requirements

Swine: All market, progress, and breeding swine will be weighed and placed into classes based on weight.

Beef: All market and progress beef will be weighed and placed into classes based on weight.


Alternates

If you are concerned your primary animal may not pass vet check or make weight, please arrive early and bring your alternate animal.

Alternates may be substituted, but both animals must be present during the 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM check-in period.


Sheep, Goats, Poultry & Rabbits Check-In

Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM


Sheep & Goats

Location: Goat Barn, Building 16

All sheep and goats must report to the Goat Barn for veterinary check before weighing.


Weigh-In Requirements

Sheep: All market, progress, and breeding sheep will be weighed and placed into classes based on weight.

Goats: All market, progress, and breeding goats will be weighed and placed into classes based on weight.


Alternates

If your primary animal does not pass vet check or does not make weight, you may substitute an alternate animal, provided the alternate is brought through vet check and weigh-in during the 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM timeframe.


Poultry

Location: In front of Building 11

Poultry will be vet checked and weighed in front of Building 11.


Rabbits

Location: In front of Building 12

Rabbits will be vet checked and weighed in front of Building 12.


Poultry & Rabbit Meat Pens

If a rabbit or poultry meat pen animal does not make weight, you may substitute another animal, but the replacement animal must be brought through vet check and weigh-in during the 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM timeframe.


Important Reminders

  • All animals must go through vet check.
  • Vet check slips are required before animals can be stalled.
  • Animals must be weighed during their assigned timeframe to be eligible for class placement.
  • Alternates must also go through vet check and weigh-in during the correct timeframe.
  • Please plan ahead, arrive early, and allow plenty of time for the check-in process.

Progress Division Info

The Progress Division gives exhibitors the opportunity to show animals at Fair that they do not plan to sell.

Progress Divisions are available for:

  • Beef
  • Sheep
  • Goats
  • Swine
  • Rabbits

How to Enter

There are two ways animals may enter the Progress Division:


1. Pre-Entry

Exhibitors must pre-enter any:

  • Animals that did not attend initial weigh-ins
  • Jackpot animals
  • Alternate animals you may want to bring and show

Entries are due July 1.

2. Automatic Move-In

If a market animal does not make weight at Final Weigh-Ins, it will automatically be moved into the Progress Division.


Awards & Premiums

The Progress Division includes premiums and awards, just like other divisions, including the Champion Progress Belt Buckle.

YQCA and Animal Health Information

All YSSS exhibitors will be required to complete the quality assurance training through YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) PRIOR TO ONLINE ENTRY.

**You must consent to data sharing for your certification to be verified**

Trainings are based on your age, so you do NOT need to wait for your last year's certificate to expire in order to take your current year's training. Please email help@yqcaprogram.org if you are having trouble getting to your training.
